Why is there so little information?
The nature of the experiment is focused around trust. Trust is something that occurs when you do not have all of the information. It is not always so blind, but it always involves faith that something will happen as expected.
Who are you? Are you trying to remain anonymous for a reason?
This ties into two items – First, the trust aspect. You trust someone driving on the same road as you to not swerve into your lane. You trust those with medical licenses to make their best efforts to help you or your family. You trust your community leaders enough that, while you may not be happy with what they are doing, you are also not arriving at their doorsteps with an angry mob and pitchforks.
Secondly, this ties into the viral nature of the internet. We are trusting strangers such that if this experiment goes well, there will likely be people who are able to work around our basic attempt to retain our privacy. The hope is that we will be able to remain safe for the duration of this experiment and that it will grow into something more.
Your anonymity is not secure. You should [Insert steps].
We understand that there are additional steps we could have taken for our privacy. Things like using specific donation services, converting donations to crypto-currencies, etc. But our hope is to succeed and eventually consider 501(c) status. This will require a certain level of transparency and thus we made the decision to leave the veil somewhat thin.
How will I know what you have accomplished with my donation?
Once we reach specific thresholds in donated funds, we will take our first steps into validating your trust in us through a private email newsletter. Note that when this occurs, you will receive a single message inviting you to join the newsletter, and nothing beyond that unless you opt-in.
There will be some donors that don’t want to know the end results, and we respect that. This isn’t a Kickstarter where we will be spamming updates either. We will only send out newsletters if and when there is a substantial success or failure, or when a specific project is completed.
I have donated, but I have not yet received a newsletter invite.
At this time, we have not yet reached our first threshold. We have set lofty goals, with lofty requirements. All we can ask for is your patience.
I regret trusting you, and wish to refund my donation.
We understand. Our policy is to adhere to Paypal’s decisions and standard refund policy. Please note that currently, Paypal does NOT refund fees to sellers. This means that refunds will slightly harm our cause in addition to providing the refund.
Will you be doing anything to help with [Insert cause]?
Our primary goal is to improve humanity’s situation at large. The goals we wish to pursue cover a broad range of topics such as homelessness, unemployment, the environment, and mental health. Presently, we are only pursuing goals within the United States, but will be expanding once we have achieved specific milestones.
Once we have achieved our first major milestone and begin sending out updates to donors, we will also provide donors with a way to send us feedback. You are also able to attach a note to your donations.
Will you be assisting with COVID19 relief efforts?
If you wish to support COVID19 relief efforts, please do so through the World Health Organization here. Centralizing resources for this effort will go a long way in increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of donations.
In addition, as we are not yet a 501(c) organization, your money will stretch further by donating through verified charity organizations.
